Being at whatever stage of your life, either being a teenager, young adult or in your 50’s humans love to communicate and share their journey with others. Socializing is not just our needs but is also a way to keep ourselves in check and maintains our mental health. With the rise of technology in the field of socializing, we have come from birds delivering the messages ages ago to smartphones sending them in just microseconds. The messages and information is still received, then what has changed?

With high internet speed either from LAN or Wi-Fi at our disposal we have inevitably turned impatient, attention seekers and most evidently greedy. You may not consider yourself having any one of those traits cause they sound bad, but they may be in there somewhere. This may sound like i am accusing you of being a bad person but, if you don't get attached to social media and are more social in life then you may or may not have those traits. Spending a lot of time on it makes you feel like you need to be validated just as the other popular social media influencers, but it is not that easy as it seems. if you get too invested in it can consume a lot of your life but, only if you let it.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and the other sites are made for people all around the world to get in contact with those who they know as close friends and also to meet new people. But, the amount of media generated on these platforms is in gigantic amount and is being produced everyday. It is made to target people all around the world so they can connect with them and feel the emotions they want you to feel by those content. You may be a very well aware and timely person but sometimes these media on social sites can keep you immersed in them for hours.

For me personally, the dog and the cat videos on Facebook, funny memes on twitter and the interviews and music videos of world renowned artists on YouTube keep me hooked to these sites. This can make you lose a lot of your time which you could have used to do other important things. Realizing the amount of time you spent on them and how much you should have “actually” spent on these sites is where you need to self introspect.

If you are using it for a moderate time period, knowing what you were looking for then it is perfectly fine. Some people use it for work too and these websites not only provide entertainment/connections but also opportunities for you. Many people use social media to influence a set of people to start a brand, or to create there own online market and also make professional connections ( Linked In).

Entering the internet you should know what you are looking for and what you are looking at, cause its a big mess and you may stumble anywhere if you are not aware.
