Nepotism stands for granting favors to relatives in various fields in which a person is actively participating. The term originated with the nepotismo which is based on the

Latin word nipos meaning ‘nephew’. Criticism in regard to this wide topic, it can be found in ancient Indian text such as the Kural literature.

Now that we know the meaning of Nepotism so we can relate to its existence in Bollywood. It is always believed by the outsiders that Bollywood is always a tough rock to crack, to them the star kids have relatively easy way to get a place in this favourist industry.Kangana Ranaut a very versatile and benevolent actor of Bollywood came fearlessly and talked about this major topic. She sparked off a major debate on Nepotism. During her visit on Karan Johar's popular chat, she called the man"a flag-bearer of nepotism& movie mafia". She is not really wrong, but Karan can hardly be victimized as Nepotism in Bollywood is a worm. When Kangana spoke the truth, no one could tolerate that a woman so outspokenly expressed her opinion, and they start criticizing her and she is immediately represented as arrogant.

Nepotism is a never ending topic, whether it is associated with the quarrel between Kangana and Karan or many stars coming forward in against or for. Debate on Nepotism has always added spice in the working of the industry and has became a confidential topic among the people of different age group.

Various Bollywood celebrities are slowly opening up about nepotism in Bollywood. Actor Tapsee Pannu, once said that at times, she feels that star kids take away all the limelight, and outsiders, who have worked hard to make a name for themselves, often gets ignored. Actor Aditya Seal said that he doesn’t understand the debate over nepotism as if there’s talent in a person from the industry itself then that person would eventually make it to the top. Sara Ali Khan who once said that it would be hypocritical to run away, recently said that she is aware of the unfairness nepotism comes with but insisted that there is no pressure on her to live up to her parent’s legacy.

Nepotism cannot be overcome as a whole from the industry, but people can take steps for reducing it to some extent. It is clear enough that even the star kids need to work hard to gain fame and stardom but what is different is the number of opportunities given to them regardless of their failures.
