It maybe something that happened at your workplace, with a friend or family, or you’re just having a bad day for no reasons in particular. You don’t know what you should be doing, or something has been bothering you way too much.

I know exactly what this feels like. You want to run inside a hole and hide yourself and never look at the light of day ever again! That sure is a great idea but not the best way to deal with it.

There are tons of other ways to cure yourself of a bad day or a bad week, in the right way:

1. Go for a walk

The first and most important thing to do is to go for a long walk as soon as possible. Try moving out of the place you are at, and walk distances. This will help clear your mind very well. Give it a try and you’ll know how amazing this feels.

2. Don’t keep it to yourself

Call someone to vent. If there’s something bothering you, you should let someone know. This will lighten your burden. Try meeting in person, and not doing this via text or a phone call (unless you don’t have a choice) By talking about it, you might just realize it wasn’t that big of a deal. It will help you get back to work quickly.

3. Write it down

It’s very satisfying to write down your problems. It’s a different type of healing. You indirectly are talking to yourself. Just write down your thoughts on a piece of paper or you could send an e-mail to yourself.

4. Try something new

Something different than usual. Maybe a DIY activity or some painting, dance or trying to learn a simple trick. Flip a magazine, try learning new random things on the internet. Read a book. Listen to some music, a genre of your choice that would cheer you up! You could just listen to your favourite song and sing along!

5. Watch funny videos

Maybe it’s that one particular video that cracks you up every time. It could be some pranks, some funny babies, or just random funny videos that make you feel so much better! You’d rather sit and watch a funny video for ten minutes and get back to work feeling so much better, instead of sulking about it all day.

6. Look at the positive side

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS. Think of all that you’re grateful for and you’ll realize how blessed you are. Get a quick head start on practicing gratitude from one of my previous articles.Try writing down at least 3 things you’re thankful for!

7. Do a good deed

You could call someone who you haven’t been in touch with (maybe family) and have a nice chat or buy a meal for someone less fortunate. Turning your bad day around for someone else will surely make you feel amazing.

Whatever is the reason behind your bad day, know that this isn’t the end and there’s so much better to come. Know that there are a lot of people who are so grateful for you and you make a huge difference to them. Life doesn’t give you anything that you can’t handle.

It is believed that life throws a number of challenges but in the end, it all seems worth it. I myself find it difficult to just agree to that but I do believe that everything happens for a reason.

Some days are going to be so difficult, but I know that I will be okay. And I know you will be too.
