In my 25 years of life,I have been seeing my mom as the most dedicated contributor to our family.
She wakes up very early, in the morning - make tea and breakfast. Soaks rice and prepares rice for lunch.Take clothes for washing and then does dishes. Cleans home twice a day. And then at the night she serves food to all.
Despite all this, one common sentence I hear in my home is that my father questioning my mom What work do you do at home ?? why cant u take care of atleast this?

She spends her maximum amount of time in the kitchen. She is hailed as the best cook by my father. Decision making regarding domestic kitchen chores are her domain in the spectrum of separation of powers. She can rightly be called the queen of ourkitchen.
And yet , surprisingly, all the utensils are engraved with my father’s name.
In the first instance her tons of workload is not visible and in the second instance her legal claims for ownership are not visible..
This is patriarchy at the highest level possible in day to day life of a 21st century women.
Ohh ! this may seem discriminatory but the worse is yet to come!!!
In India women constitute half of the population i.e. nearly 65 crores. But representation of women across different socio economic political spheres lacks proportional representation completely skewed against women.

For instance, women constitute only 11% in Indian Parliament. Only 12% women farmers own the land they sow according to Economic Survey 2018. A mere 33% reservation for women in local bodies. And a decliningwomen labour force participation which stand at 25% . And finally only 14/100 entrepreneurs are women.

THIS PROVOKES ANY WOMEN IN INDIA TO LOUDLY QUESTION THE PATRIARCHY WHTHER 50% OF POPULATION IS VISIBLE OR INVISIBLE TO THE EYES OF THE POLICY MAKERS AND SOCIETY ???

Women’s Rights Movement gained mass support in the latter half of the twentieth century when the essential problems like discrimination, inequality and limited opportunities continued to confront women in all spheres of life. The phrase ‘Women’s Liberation’ appeared in print media in 1966. Late sixties also marked a period in human history when more and more women joined institutes of higher education.

21stcentury is the century for change. The Planet Earth is ready for ‘The Shift of the Ages’.Women with her natural attributes of compassion will sow the seeds of global transformation. The time is ripe for women of all races, castes, class, and nationalities to come together to be the harbinger of this change..
