IPL, from the very first season has been this gigantic festival held every year to celebrate the love and passion of cricket in this country. Overseas stars have lit up the tournament each and every season, be it the thunderous innings from McCullum or the 175 from Chris Gyale. Several Indian talents, from the likes of Bumrah to Pandya are found here. As IPL enters its 12th season, several players who were there from the initial season might be playing their farewell season this year. Let’s have a look at these veterans who, we think, might be playing their last season as players.

1. Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle, a once in a generation player and the greatest batsmen ever to play the shortest format. ‘Universe Boss’, is synonymous with the IPL. For some, no Chris Gayle means no IPL. When he gets going, no bowler is spared and everyone just stands there and witness the ‘Gayle storm’ that has struck them.

Starting his journey with KKR, later moving on to RCB in 2011, making the Chinnaswamy Stadium his new fortress. Currently the 40 year old is playing with KXIP and it still remains to see if he can once again, stamp his authority in this year’s IPL also. I hope he does put up a great show because fans no matter what team they support, always want to see the ‘Gayle Storm’.

2. Lasith Malinga

The legendary speedster from Sri Lanka represented the same franchisee from the inaugural edition of the IPL. With 154 scalps, he is still the highest wicket taker in the IPL. He might not be the Malinga of the past but he is still raring to go. Being unsold in the 2018 IPL auction he was assigned as the mentor of the Mumbai Indians. But now as he is back with the team as a player, he will be wanting to prove that he still is one the finest death bowlers the world has ever witnessed. He is not fit as he used to be but the Sri Lankan captain might just play his last IPL as he is going to retire from the international arena after the World Cup

3. Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj’s career has not been the same since he was diagnosed with cancer after the 2011 World Cup. Being sold to the Mumbai Indians for his base price this IPL, it would be no surprise if the 37 year old hangs up his boots later this year. Yuvraj is not the same just like he was a few years back and it would require him to do something extraordinary if he’s thinking about this IPL as a ticket to England.
