Self- motivation. Feeling empowered. Overcoming obstacles with gusto. You can either look at these words as just a randomly arranged bunch of letters which have been given a certain meaning by the dictionary or you can imbibe them into your mind and soul and turn the world into your oyster. These are the words which successful people not only adopt, but work to own them in order to reach the place they desire.
Motivation is defined as the reason for people’s actions, willingness and goals. However, it is also a well known fact that motivation is a powerful but also a very tricky beast. Sometimes it is really easy to get motivated, and you find yourself wrapped up in a whirlwind of excitement. Other times, it is nearly impossible to figure out how to motivate yourself in a death spiral of procrastination. So, the question which bothers us all is how exactly do you tame this difficult beast?
As they say, every problem has a solution and this problem is certainly not an exception. That is to say, there are some activities which you can adopt in order to solve the problem of daily motivation. They are stated as follows.
1 Desire it -
Fascinating about your dreams and goals is not the same as wanting them ardently. This is just called daydreaming. You need to change your thought process, that is, you need to ask yourself the question, “Are you really willing to live your life obliviously, without achieving your goals or even making an effort towards them?”. You need to desire it. This may seem like a heady posturing, but is an immensely powerful motivator
2 Keep small and realistic everyday goals -
These kind of goals are easier to accomplish and also create a feeling of empowerment. Eventually, it is the celebration of these very goals which keeps you motivated enough to persistently follow and achieve your life goals.
3 Be gentle with yourself -
Stop comparing the accomplishments in your life with those of your neighbour. The story you created in your head will be never as good, and the reality will never be as bad.
4 Keep your cards close to your chest -
Announcing your plans to world never has worked and certainly never will. This is because the feedback you get, both positive and negative, out of your proclamation will either trick your brain into thinking you’ve already completed it or demotivate you completely, respectively. So keep it to yourself and share the good news once you’re done.
In the end, it is only your own willingness which will make you the person you desire to be or not.
